Fall Horicon Marsh Trip

Nani invited us to stay with her in an inn in Horicon so we could all visit the marsh.

Georgie working on a bird project in the visitor's center at the marsh.

Down the Rock (?) River that runs through Mayville, the little town where we stayed.

Over looking the river from the little dock
A stop in their coffee shop after a brisk walk into town.

Exploring the sweeping lawn of the River's Bend Inn where we stayed on the river.
The Chicago Judys joined us there and we stopped in the little market in town.

 River's Bend Inn

Nani greets us as we arrive.

A very cold and windy walk at another section of the marsh.

The inside of the inn was very pretty and there's a wonderful story about the proprietor of the inn, Jane Murray.  She wrote a book about her life story and as one of JFK's girlfriends.  Fun read!
The children ate in the kitchen as 90 plus year old Jan cooked them and us breakfast.

The weather turned around when we had to leave but we took one walk into the marsh.

Magnolia brought along her nature journal and stopped to write about what she saw.
It was a wonderful trip!
