Red Couch Day!

Group Photo at The White Swan Hotel

What a fun day! We had all the babies' medical exams at the famous Adoption Clinic on Shaimen Island. All the babies are in good health! Magnolia lost one pound, ugh! She didn't eat much the first week we had her being so sick but the past few days she's been eating quite a bit so we're sure she's catching back up. A few other babies lost weight and some gained. We'll fatten her up in no time when we get back home! We also went and had Magnolia's passport picture taken, she was so good for that! After that we had an hour to do some shopping. It was our last chance to shop there so we did the best we could but it was hot and rushed and we had to stop to give Magnolia a bottle in the park. I'm amazed at the things we are doing just having babies! Then we had to meet at the famous White Swan Hotel to change our babies into their Chinese outfits for the famous red couch photo. This hotel has been the hotel for foreigners adopting for years. In the lobby are red couches which families have been putting their babies on for photos for years. I couldn't believe we were finally there getting our chance to do it! I opted out of the fancy Chinese outfit and found this cotton dress instead, I think Magnolia looks so darn cute in it. We thought she looked like a little cupcake! After the photo shoot our agency took us out to lunch for a true Cantonese meal. It was awesome! The little boy, Max, adopted in our group, turned 5 today! We had a cake to celebrate and ate it before lunch, how fun!
Tomorrow will be another jam packed day, can't wait to tell you about it!

Getting ready for the photo shoot. She was being so funny, her personality is really shining through!

Outside the photo shop for Magnolia's passport photo. She was all smiles.

Outside the Medical Clinic.
Before the exam, happy baby. After the exam, not so happy!

Max turned 5 today!
What a cute cake, this was our piece!
The end of our Cantonese meal, I ate so much, it was so good! Magnolia had a little red bean paste and loved it!

Wow!! What amazes me is the growth that I read about and see in Magnolia and in you, Lucy and George. It is like you have been given a 2 week crash course and are graduating as pro parents. Can you remember how you felt even the first day you saw Magnolia and now how you feel. Amazing to you as well, I am sure. I sure love all 3 of you.

Want to stop in and say hi to you all again. Your daughter Magnolia is amazing, adorable, wonderful, beautiful and so much more. We are thrilled beyond words to see and hear all the gifts and experiences you have been blessed with! BTW I gave you bad info regarding your birch tree. It is not changing. I think it was dropping some leaves due to dryness, but we have gotten significant rain in the last few days so while things (lawn etc) are not quite back to normal they are much improved. yesterday I mowed for the first time in at least a month, and I had to move a watermelon vine you have growing in the corner of your lot, it has a couple great looking fruits on it. See you all in a few days, can't wait!

Dear Lucy and George,

Beautiful pictures!! I especially love the ones of Magnolia investigating her Mommy's bag, and the ones of her Daddy holding her in front of the Passport Office.

I was just thinking today of how wonderful it is for the three of you to have had this immersion time together. It will be very special, I think, for Magnolia to be able to read all about it, over and over, and to see how she has blossomed under your love, and the joy that she is for you!

My love and and thoughts are with you as you get ready to leave the East and turn Westward.

I love the recent photos. I can't wait to see your whole collection when you get home. Magnolia is so darn cute and I am just counting the days until I get to meet her. Her outfit for the red couch photos is ADORABLE. How funny that she is grabbing that little girl's face. I miss you and can't wait till Saturday!!
